The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was established in 1889 under divine guidance by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) of Qadian, India. He claimed to fulfill the advent of Islam's Masih Maood (Promised Messiah) and Mahdi (Reformer) whose responsibility it would be to revive Islam and to cleanse it of the interpolations and perversions imposed upon it over the past many centuries and to re-assert Islam as a religion of peace, tolerance and humanity. As Islam is a universal religion, he also claimed to be the fulfillment of the awaited reformer of all the world's other religions. His stated mission was to bring about the victory and glory of Islam through peaceful and loving means, a mission that is to be continued by and ultimately fulfilled by his Khulafa (Successors). After his passing in 1908, his community was successively lead by his Khulafa, namely, Hadhrat Maulvi Nooruddin, Hadhrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmad, Hadhrat Mirza Nasir Ahmad and Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad. The fifth and current Khalifa (Successor) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, whose title is Khalifa tul Masih V.
Since 1889, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has exponentially grown to a membership residing in over 190 countries, and is widely reputed as the world's fastest growing and most dynamic Muslim community. It is also a passionate advocate for peace, interfaith harmony and service to humanity, and is dedicated to the cause of educating the world regarding the true and benevolent teachings of Islam. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community lives in accordance with its motto "Love for All, Hatred for None."
